A UNIQUELY GLOBAL CURRICULUM

We have developed a tailored curriculum that complements the academic programs at students’ home institutions, and our wide selection of China-themed courses ensures students possess the broad-based competencies needed to succeed globally. Furthermore, our program serves as atraining ground to apply lessons learned from courses like Cross-cultural Communications, Chinese Management, and Chinese language in interactions with professors, peers, and multinational companies in China.



The Future of Business
  • Business Analytics

    The overall goal of this course is to improve student ability to learn from market data. We will go through the common data sources and data analysis techniques, and we will see how to draw inferences from data analysis and yield actionable information for making effective marketing decisions.

  • AI and Economics

    Artificial intelligence is the technology that is commonly recognized to have profound impact to the economy and every aspect of human life. This course will focus on exploring how AI affects various aspects of the economy. We will focus on discussing the effects of AI on macroeconomics, labor market, education, as well as how AI combined with big data will transform business strategy, including issues such as individualized recommendation system, market design, data trading, etc. We will also discuss more fundamental ethnical issues such as privacy concern, algorithm discrimination, inequality and welfare. We will then have a better understanding of government policy regarding the AI technology.

  • Information Management

    This course covers two parts of contents. The first part highlights the importance of information technology and information management in organization. Whereas the second part emphasizes data, model and decision making in organization For the first part, we will focus on unique characteristics and managerial implications of information technology and management, and how managers should leverage them to improve business processes (or create new business models), enhance customer satisfaction, and gain strategic advantages over rivals. It’s worth mentioning that with the rapid development of China’s economy, China’s technology development, in both infrastructure and applications, is also keeping a rapid pace. In this course, we will introduce and discuss how China has been doing in its information evolution. Examples include macro figures and firm cases, and will be compared with foreign cases. For the second part, we will (1) enable students to master the basic principles and methods of management science related to data, model and decision; (2) cultivate the ability of thinking in scientific management; (3) and skillfully use the skills of management data and solving model of computer; (4) have the ability to solve the decision problem faced in enterprise operation and management. This part will use EXCEL as a modeling tool, which will enhance students’ EXCEL skills.

  • Theory of Innovation

    This course introduces foundational concepts and ideas in creativity and innovation. This knowledge is essential for developing students with an entrepreneurial mind, equipping students with the knowledge and ability of generating new ideas to address problems in organizations, and helping students master the skills needed to lead organizational innovation in today’s competitive and challenging environment. This course integrates individual, team, and organizational level theories of creativity and innovation and real-world practices and adopt case analysis method extensively to focus on the application of theory and research that prescribe various approaches for entrepreneurial organizations to effectively achieve their goals.

  • Venture Capital and Finance of Innova...

    This course studies how venture capital finances technological innovation. It is chiefly designed for finance majors with an interest in venture capital, entrepreneurship, technological innovation, or R&D-intensive companies.

International Impact
  • Chinese Economy

    This course will tell and analyze the history and reality of China's economy from two dimensions of economic development and institutional change, focusing on the operation mechanism, development performance and internal logic of China's economy during the planned economy period and the reform and opening up period. This course is characterized by analyzing and telling the "China story" based on economic theory and cutting-edge research literature, understanding the operation logic and evolution process of China's economy from the interactive perspective of market and government, and defining and analyzing the characteristics of China's economic development performance and its governance from the perspective of international comparison.

  • Finance in China

    This course tries to describe the institutional background of China’s financial industry and clarify the historical veining. Based on these preparations, we will rethink and appraise the historical financial system reform decisions, summarize the experience and lessons, and make the Chinses development model clearer. We will try our best to compile the financial economics theory and china’s experience, and forecast the future of this financial system. The goal of this course is that after taking this course, the students can understand how and why the financial system in China have changed. They will get to know what is a “good financial system”, try to think what will happen during the further change in the future, and what decision we will make.

  • Management in China

    This course targets to help you understand important topics of management in the Chinese context or with the Chinese people. You will learn concepts, theories, research results, and successful management stories related to this domain. You will learn from the lectures, your classmates, as well as your own explorative learning activities. This course requires highly interactive class participation and your own exploration outside the classroom.

  • Chinese Society

    This course explores key features of Chinese society and their implications to Chinese business culture. It begins with a comparative analysis about the structural differences between the Chinese and Western societies and moves on to discuss the social, economic, and cultural implications of such differences. After establishing basic analytical perspectives, we will focus on Chinese business culture and explores emerging patterns in areas like market ecology, labor processes, retailing and consumer behaviors, work relations and management. We will adopt an interdisciplinary perspective and analyze Chinese society and culture using concepts and theories from various social science disciplines (e.g., sociology, economics, psychology, philosophy, and political science). Our purposes are to understand the unique features of Chinese society and business culture on the one hand, and to develop a board theoretical perspective for cross-cultural analyses on the other. Therefore, this class can also serve as a general social science courses.

  • Chinese Language

    Chinese language courses are designed for students at different levels. The goal is to develop communicative competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The course will cover the different topics in real life contexts.

The China Immersion Project offers students an opportunity to gain insights into key Chinese industries, regional differences, and industrial policy evolution. As part of "Future Leaders”, participants visit typical Chinese cities, experiencing local development firsthand. The module includes field visits to renowned companies and networking events with alumni and guest speakers. Students also gain appreciation for China's rich history, culture, and cuisine.

The Capstone Project lets students apply knowledge to real-world scenarios through a "mini-consulting project" with a company. Using analytical tools and China-focused insights, students conduct field research and propose solutions to actual business challenges. Previous partnerships include Tesla, Microsoft, Deloitte, L’ORÉAL, JD.COM and Xiaomi, etc.

The program offers students exclusive opportunities to visit prestigious multinational companies in China, allowing them to delve into frontier industries and bulid professional networks. Through initiatives like the "Guanghua Thought Leaders Series", students engage directly with global leaders from academia, business, and government. Past speakers have included Nobel Laureate James Heckman, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, and former Deloitte Global Chair.
