#Meet Our “Future Leaders” # is a featured series on stories of PKU Guanghua “Future Leaders” International Undergraduate Program students. Find out more about student life in the “Future Leaders” Program from the people who know it best: our students.
Today, we focus on Miranda Fenoy, a Spanish girl from Barcelona who thrives for challenges and self-improvement.
About Miranda Fenoy
Miranda Fenoy, born and raised in Spain, is part of the PKU Guanghua “Future Leaders” Double-Degree Program. She studies two different bachelors simultaneously, Business Administration and Psychology. At Esade Business School, she has been involved in several student associations, such as the Esade Finance Society, Dawn Advisory (consulting) and Agora (an association encouraging critical and proactive thinking). Her work experience ranges from internships in investment banking in London(Goldman Sachs)and strategic consulting in Madrid (McKinsey), in some of the most prestigious international firms.
Diverse hobbies lead to self-fulfilment
Some years ago, I traveled to the USA to improve my English and work as a volunteer with kids in a refugee camp in Atlanta. This experience molded my multi-cultural understanding and nurtured my international spirit, giving me a comprehensive and holistic view of the importance of diversity inclusion and equality.I also competed in in synchronized swimming at a semi-professional level which enabled me to gain strong teamwork skills and understand the importance of discipline and how coordination and collaboration become key in goal achievement.
Traveling, hiking and gastronomy are some of my favorite hobbies. I could spend hours reading and comparing restaurant reviews, doing research on unique food products or simply having lunch with family or friends. I’m also passionate about Museums and art galleries to expand cultural knowledge and challenge imagination with different pieces of art.
Finding a balance between academic and personal life
I have always been driven by challenges and personal improvement. That’s why I decided to combine the Business Administration with Psychology. As I see it, individuals are at the center of everything we do. As a banker, consultant, student or friend, if you fail to communicate, understand others’ feelings or intentions, your analytical skills or critical thinking skills may lose all its value. Moreover, this bachelor combination allowed me to discover my passion for neuroscience and neuropsychology, expand my student network and challenge the speed of content assimilation.
I also believe that finding a balance between the personal, academic and professional spheres of life allows us to give the best version of ourselves. In this sense, following the logic of “quality before quantity” and enjoying every second spent with family, friends, professors, or advisors has been key to maintain such balance between different spheres, rather than only focusing on the academic one.
An opportunity to keep learning from exceptional professors and students
China’s role in the global economy is becoming more relevant every day and understanding the fundamentals of it from a first-hand perspective is a unique opportunity that the Future Leaders Program has given to me.The emphasis that the program gives to understanding the Chinese Culture, Ethics and Management styles enables us to get a privileged and real perspective on the country dynamics. In this sense, the program appeared to me as an opportunity to immerse myself in the Chinese culture understanding its roots and provide a holistic approach in business.
In addition, Guanghua’s vast portfolio of exceptional Professors, such as Prof. Zhou Li-An, and high standards in the student selection process appeared as an extraordinary advantage in choosing the program. In this sense,Guanghua does not only offer an inclusive and rich immersion in the Chinese culture, but also the chance to get to know other exceptional student and professor profiles to learn from and grow with.
PKU Guanghua “Future Leaders” Program
