Peking University and Lingnan University signs MoU

Peking University, October 9, 2024: On September 30, President of Hong Kong’s Lingnan University Joe Qin visited Peking University (PKU). Accompanying President Qin were Lingnan University’s Director of Internal Cooperation Shen Tingting and Senior Administrative Officer Zhou Mengya. President Qin was received by PKU President Gong Qihuang, as well as vice President Fang Fang.

President Gong warmly welcomed President Qin and his delegation. He pointed out that both universities have maintained friendly and cooperative relations in recent years. In the field of general education, projects such as student exchange and summer programs have showed that the influence in cooperation continues to expand. President Gong hopes that both institutions will continue to collaborate pragmatically in areas such as talent development, scientific research, and faculty and student exchanges in the future.

President Qin introduced Lingnan University's recent progress in digital innovation education, and congratulated both universities for having successfully hosted the 2024 STEM Summer Academy, which marked a new journey of innovation and entrepreneurship collaboration. He looked forward to further strengthening partnership with PKU, by expanding cooperation in the fields such as data science, humanities research, and sharing of digitalized ancient texts.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Following the meeting, the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for future cooperation. The agreement outlines an expanded and deepened collaboration in areas such as student exchange programs, faculty and staff exchanges, visiting scholar programs, cultural exchange activities, joint research, joint education programs, and short-term training. Both institutions aim to contribute to the enhancement of educational exchange and partnership between universities in Beijing and Hong Kong.
