President of Durham University visits Peking University

Peking University, October 28, 2024: On October 23, Karen O'Brien, president and Chancellor of Durham University in the UK, led a delegation to visit Peking University. They were received by Hao Ping, Council Chair of PKU, and Fang Fang, Vice President of PKU.

Karen O'Brien meets Hao Ping 

Hao Ping warmly welcomed O’Brien and praised the friendly relations that both universities had for years, especially in the fields of History, Linguistics, Law, Earth Sciences, and Medical Humanities. Moving forward, PKU will continue to deepen its collaboration with Durham University in areas such as scientific research and innovation, student exchange, and joint training. In addition, a new platform for international exchange will be established to strengthen interaction between both institutions in the face of global challenges. This would further contribute to the global academic exchanges and talent cultivation.

O'Brien praised PKU for its role in global cooperation. She introduced the latest progress of Durham University’s research, teaching reform, and global strategy, and expressed hopes for the University to strengthen collaboration with PKU in climate change and sustainable development. Durham University attaches great importance in cultivating students' global perspectives, and hopes to nurture more young scholars in the context of today’s globalized era by working with PKU.
